Assam is developing a software to collect the data of migrant returnees, who came to the state after the coronavirus outbreak. The initiative called SAMPARKA (Software Application for Migrated people to Assam for Rejuvenating Karma Abhiyan) to systematically capture data of migrant workers who returned to the state in view of the COVID-19 induced lockdown is also developed.

The US has joined an international panel for setting ethical guidelines for the use of Artificial Intelligence. The Trump Administration had earlier dismissed the idea of the Group of Seven countries in setting up the Global Partnership on AI. This is to counter China’s record of “twisting technology” to threaten civil liberties. The partnership comes nearly two years after the leaders of Canada and France announcing the formation of the group.

The US launched its first airstrikes against the Taliban since a rare ceasefire between the insurgents and Afghan forces ended more than a week ago. The ceasefire was announced by Taliban to mark the Eid al-Fitr. The two airstrikes were conducted on June 4 and 5 in separate provinces in Afghanistan.
